Subject: [JavaScript] Disabling Firefox Drag & Drop on My Photoblog
I first want to introduce myself. My name is Gail and I am an amateur photographer, not a JavaScript expert. Having said that, I hope I am not booed right out of the group. I just want to be honest and up front. I have tried to find help elsewhere and none seems forthcoming. If there is someone who can help me here, I would be deeply grateful and even consider some sort of monetary compensation for your time and service. I just don't know who else to ask anymore.
Here is the problem. As a photographer, I am trying to make it difficult for people to download photo images off of my site. I have done many of the usual things that deter this including disabling the drag and drop script in IE on my site. Firefox's script seems to be a bit more difficult to disable, though. Here are the two sites that I have found that seem most promising:
http://davidwalsh. name/mootools- image-protector- dwprotector
http://develobert. blogspot. com/2008/ 10/disable- firefox-image- drag.html
I am quite aware that I can never completely stop someone who is determined to steal images from my site. I just want to disable Firefox from making it easy. My photoblog site is here:
I know how to access all of my folders and files and am great at cutting and pasting code. I just need to know what to put where basically. The other problem I am having is that I am not sure how one would go about putting a container around each photo the way my photo blogging platform works. I use PixelPost. There is a image_template. html file. I don't know if that is helpful or not.
If anyone is up for the challenge, or torture (depending on how you see things), I would be so happy. We could chat on YahooChat, if that would make things easier. Please let me know what you think.
